December 01, 2006 FOOTBALL ace Teddy Sheringham yesterday launched the world’s biggest ever online Grand Slam poker event.
The former England striker, 40, was surrounded by casino poker girls as he kicked off the VC Poker Grand Slam with a £5MILLION jackpot.
The contest, billed as poker’s answer to the major sporting poker tournaments, starts on Sunday.
There will be four high stakes games over four weeks — and the person who wins all four gets $10,000,000 (£5,084,000).
If no one wins, the competition will start again in January — and every month until someone does. Gaming mogul Victor Chandler, 55, said: “This competition offers online poker’s richest prize to date, and will find the world’s best player.”
