Widow's Bio: Outstanding Player

Annie Duke

Annie Duke at the 2004 WSOPIn 2004, Annie Duke won the World Series of Poker event #19, Omaha High-Low. The buy-in was $2,000 and the number of players exceeded 230 with a prize pool of $430,560 US, and of that, she won $137,860. Her status as a poker player went from somewhat known to "Best Female Poker Player in the World" and "Top Female World Series of Poker Money Winner in History." One of the most unforgettable times in her career was when she placed 10th in the WSOP, while being 8 months pregnant. She has climbed her way to the top of the poker community, which has been primarily male dominated.

Poker tournaments is not the only area where you will find Annie, she is currently working as a consultant for Ultimate Bet and promotes their site and writes articles as well in addition to her motherly duties.

Her current efforts to organize a Charity Poker Tournament, approximately $25,000 for the benefit of the schools of Portland, Oregon, were denied when the State Attorney General's office cited that "Charity Poker Tournaments are Against the Law in the State." Duke has questioned the logic of the state's policies against charity poker tournaments, considering that it gains a significant portion of its funding from the Oregon lottery, which even features an online gambling capacity.

Her newest venture is a an exclusive DVD deal with Masters of Poker (MOP). The series of DVDs, which is being filmed this week at the Commerce Casino, will be distributed and marketed through MOP's exclusive partnership deal with video label, Big Vision Entertainment.
