Widow's Bio: Outstanding Player

Daniel Negreanu

Daniel NegreanuDaniel Negreanu was born in Toronto, Canada in 1974. He started playing poker at the age of 15 after which he moved to Las Vegas to play poker on a full-time basis. He won the Foxwoods 1997 "Best All Around Player" for the World Poker Finals. He is the youngest person in history to have won the World Series of Poker Championship. He was 23 years old at the time (1998) when he took the Pot Limit Hold'em event. And in 1999 he won the US Poker Champion. Between 1997 and 1999 he has won a total of 12 tournaments. This is more than any other player on the circuit at the time. He lists his most respected poker players as Jennifer Harman for making it to the top of a 'man's' world, Allen Cunningham for his ability and table demeanor, and Ted Forrest. His favorite game as Pot-Limit Hold'Em. Daniel has written more than 90 articles for Card Player Magazine and won the 2004 Player of the Year Award.

Currently he lives in Las Vegas, and would like to find the right person and have a family. If there is anything that he could change in the poker world, he would change the negative image of poker. He says "For society to see that it can be a healthy profession although it's not traditional. Get rid of all the bad apples, the cheats, the badmouths, the hot tempered, etc. If that happens, I can see poker being accepted more readily by mainstream society in the near future."
